Oo..Nanbane

This happened to me in Trichy couple of years back.

I dont remember whether it is saibaba temple or srirangam temple. After finishing darshan, I headed towards River Kollidam. It is the month of november. As Trichy had received good showers that year, River Cauvery was full (which is a delight to watch) and adding to it the River Kollidam was also full !!! After enjoying seeing the River Kollidam (Wonderful experience it was) and taken photograph with Nokia 6600, I started heading towards Trichy City.

At the cauvery bridge, I drove while enjoying the river and the breeze on the river. A guy driving some honda bike came very close to my vehicle. I lost the balance and shouted Eeeeiiiiii.... like our GAP10

He was with some one (probably his wife). He stopped his bike immediately (may be humiliated by my shout???). I was thinking, i should have not shouted that way as mistake was also by my side. But i did. Ok varattum parthudalam...He came near to me.

When he came near, i felt i had seen this face somewhere. But i couldnt remember. He came near to me, said "Dei sami, surprise da? eppadi da irukka? sowkiya? enga irukka? unna parkkave mudiyalaye... ." and it went like this. He introduced his wife to me. He asked sorry many times for not informing about his marriage which had recently happend to that time. But Enakku avan peru ennane theriyala. I was deeply ashamed of myself :(. Avan enna parthu avana nyabagam irukkannu ketkrathukku munnadi, eppadiyavathu i have to know his name.

Enna pannalam? I was running out of my mind. My brain didnt work out in tension.

Now came the dangerous part. He asked my mobile no. I gave it. He told "sami, i will give a missed call, note panikko". Oh..how would i store his number without his name, when i tumble while storing, he is going to find out that i didnt recognize his name. It would be humiliating for me before him...

Finally he gave the missed call. He is standing close to me by side and watching the way i am storing his name. Thanks to Nokia, they provided the email option just one row below the mobile number option :)

Gala... i got it, i asked "Dei what is your email id, as i always use email"...Avanum, "amamda i forgot to give you that, take it down". He gave it and finally i could find his name from that.
Phew...kadavul kadaisyila kappathittar :).

Happy Sri Rama Navami

On the tamil month panguni (last month of tamil calendar), the navami is celebrated as Sri Rama Navami. Today is Lord Rama's Birthday. Happy Birthday Ram or Ramar or Raman :) Many more happy returns of the day :)

I wish i could have been in my home at trichy. Celebrating these kind of functions with your amma, appa and akka will be too good. But missing all these now :( (have been missing it regularly for quite some years)

Also missing my mother's preparation of Neer More, Panagam, Many varieties of rice (esp elumichai satham and thayir satham...)

Also at this period of year in those days, we will have exams in our high schools. After finishing your exam, you come out and you will be finding stalls in front of schools providing the "Neer More". Students will rush to those and fill up them in their water bottle and enjoy drinking. Hmm...Athellam oru kaalam... But today sagar hotel saambar :(...enna kodumai saravanan ithu?

Anyways Happy Sri Rama Navami to All and Let us wish lord rama a happy birthday. Also let us pray to him for the welfare of the world.

Trichy Airport - Truly International Now :)

Source: The Hindu
Though you have flights from Trichy to dubai and srilanka, you cannot say it is an International one. When i landed there, it had just one building, the trichy bus stand looked lot better when compared.

But now, with the expanded runway and having some more terminals, The Tiruchirappalli Airport now have capacity to fly Boeing flights. Heard the runway is doubled and expanded to 8000 fts.

Soon after this expansion, Air India Express has commenced the flight service to Singapore with a stop over in Chennai and a direct flight to Dubai (earlier i think it is via Thiruvanathapuram). It will be a tri-weekly service starting today (March 26, 2007).Currently, i dont know the days of the week in which they are running this service (Thanks to hope less design of the Air India Express website).

Below is the details for today, so one of the day is on monday i hope.

The Rs. 5000 should be a catchy one as it is very less fare compared to the other flight fares to singapore from chennai. Hope there is more demand for this flight :)

Yo Trichy !!!

Hope soon, there is a direct flight from Trichy to New York with a stoppage in London :) :) (thinking konjam athigam thaan but nalla irukkum...)

Hosur Trip

Though last weekend was a normal weekend, i wanted to go somewhere to some place. As it was long weekend for all of my friends (Thanks to Ugadi festival)

I wanted to go a trek to Kalavarahalli Betta (also called as skanda giri), a place near Chickballabur, on Bangalore-Hyderabad NH (I got know this through an email forward from one of my friend...pic shows it as awesome place, dont know how far it is true) but unfortunately it didnt happen.I asked some group of my friends, first they were ok but later(close to the weekend), to my disppointment, my friends came with different reasons and said they are not coming :( :(

Sitting chumma in your house in the weekend will be boring when you stay alone. So I wanted to freak out some where.

Finally i found some of my other friends ready for some outing. But the time was very very short for us to make some plans (Blame is on myself as i asked these guys very very late). We discussed many places but atlast we finalized my friend's idea of One day Trip to Hosur.Being living in bangalore for a long time, i also had interest in this plan.

Virtually we are clue less about Hosur Sight Seeing places. Onsite experience came to the rescue, Google-a use panni konjam places kandupidichean. Apart from Sri Chandrachoodeswarar Kovil (Hill temple that comes on your right when you travel on NH 7 from hosur towards salem), we found some other 'great' places like thally, some dams. Particulary this "thally" is referred as "Little England" for its coolness through out the year. So we had this in top of our list.

We Started early from silkboard, Had Breakfast in Meenakshi Bavan in Hosur and went to thally, came back and had lunch, went to Paruthi Veeran (as they have banned it in Bangalore),and finally to the Kovil.

Ellam proper-a irunthathu except that Thally part. Website-la "Cool through out the year"-nu pottirunthatha nambiiii..., pona, onnume illa !!! We should gone there in rainy season or the winter that follows it. Website padatha parthuttu emandhuttom :( Antha kaalathula athu cool-a irunthutho ennamo, ippo romba warm. Thanks to maram vettigal, pollution, global warming etc. Ore oru grand lake that too with no water in it but with bushes. Poor maintenance. Blame the tourism deparment & local people, they have not taken care of that lake.

Next we went to paruthi veeran (good movie, review later), Evening went to Shivan temple(hill temple of hosur: actually another one is there in the other side of NH 7 which is attributed to lord vishnu - we didnt go there due to lack of time). Had good darshan there. Watched sunset, hosur city from top (both are awesome ) and taken some snaps. After having dinner at the same hotel, we returned.

Especially "Thally" plan pannathukkaga, enna ootti thallitaanga :)...But thanks to paruthi veeran and the hill temple, kadaisiyila thappichutean :)

update: Hosur is as beautiful like any other town of its size, check out my photos here

EFT Vs. RTGS

Jargons:
EFT - Electroinc Funds Transfer
RTGS - Real Time Gross Settlement.

Source - RBI Site( click here for the RBI document )

As my bank is providing both the service through internet banking (RTGS is recently added), i was curious to know the difference. The information provided my banks site is not explanatory enough. I got confused why RTGS is added as it is also another way of making the payment/transfer funds electronically, in both, money first goes to RBI from our account and then goes to the beneficary account from RBI (Both are Electronic Payment Products - Apart from this, another one which RBI has is Electronic Clearing Service - ECS )

Thanks to RBI website, they have given enough information about this, please find it at the top of this post.

According to it, EFT is free of charge to the some of the banks & branches listed by your bank. For those banks and branches which is not listed in your bank's website, you have to pay service charge for transferring the amount. In the case of RTGS, i believe all the transactions are charged and almost all the banks & branches in India is covered.

In the case EFT, i believe there is no minimum amount to transfer (i have transferred even Rs.30 to my friend's account) but in the case of RTGS, the minimum amount to transfer can vary from bank to bank(For CITIBANK it is Rs. 1 Lakh. so for other banks also should have minimum amount in this range).

For EFT, the minum duration for time taken for completion of the whole transaction for EFT is 1 day and the max may be 2-3 days (certainly not beyond that even the beneficiary bank branch is in India's border). For RTGS, it is 2 hours and maximum is 1-2 days.

Kooti kazhichchu partha, kanakku enna varuthunna - RTGS can be used only if u want to transfer amount greater than One Lakh Rupees and at the same time using EFT you cannot transfer to all the bank and all the branches in India.

Karadayan Nonbu

Heard from my amma that today is karadayan nonbu celebrated in India (Tamil Nadu particularly). In my childhood i have watched my amma and akka praying to the Gods. After that we will be given Karadayan Adai and Vennai (Butter) as prasadams (amma kaiyala pannathunna, wow...athan taste-e thani) . Also pal payasam will be prepared today :)

Also heard from my mom that, this day is celebrated by all the women, those who got married will pray to god for the welfare of the husband. Unmarried girls will pray to the god for getting good men as their husband.

Can any one tell is there any day for men to pray to the god for getting good wives ?? I dont think so (i have not heard so far).. whats the reason could be..?? hmm... After scratching my head,i found this... As all the women are good, there is no special day required to pray :) (ice vaichachu..heheh).

In this day, women will be fasting to show their love towards their husband/to get good husband. On the day of birth of Panguni tamil month (panguni matha pirappil... to be exact, maasi masa kadaisiyil where month of maasi still remains and just panguni is about to born), this festival is celebrated.

This time, poor confused techie is missing this festival (adai) by sitting in front of PC in bangalore :(

Anyways Happy Karadayan Nonbu To All Ladies
